About Ed Technology

What is Educational Technology?

The field of Educational technology studies how to integrate technology with subject domain learning.  It believes that understanding the content and pedagogy of a specific subject area provides an essential context for meaningful research and development in educational technology.  This approach provides the basis for developing an integrated curriculum that can cause dramatic change in how reading, writing, science, and mathematics are taught.

Understanding of computer technology, school contexts, and a subject domain can place you among the leaders who design advanced technological systems and integrated support materials that change instruction.

The answer to this question is provided by Professor Barry Fishman of the University of Michigan Educational Technology program and from the notes of Jeff Huang (Ed Tech Master's Student)
